Summary:This ceramic member is produced by carrying out laser treatment on a ceramic substrate as pretreatment for surface treatment such that grooves in which surface treatment material can be uniformly filled are formed on the surface of the ceramic substrate, enabling the ceramic member to strongly adhere to the surface treatment material filled in the grooves. By irradiating a surface of the ceramic substrate C1 with a laser, a plurality of grooves are provided on the surface, each groove comprising a recessed surface formed extending in at least one direction. Each area between adjacent grooves on the surface is flat. Pitches between the adjacent grooves are 0.05 to 0.30 mm. One of the grooves has a width that progressively decreases as the depth increases and opens toward one side in the depth direction of the one of the grooves at a maximum width in a cross section taken perpendicular to the one direction.
