This power unit for straddle-type vehicles is equipped with an ACG cover (55) that is connected to a crankcase, surrounds the rotor of an alternating current generator around the axis of rotation (Rx), and forms a housing space for the rotor. The ACG cover (55) has a peripheral wall (81b) that surrounds the rotor housing space around the axis of rotation (Rx) further outward of the rotor in terms of the axial direction, and an air introduction opening (88) for introducing outside air in the radial direction is provided in the peripheral wall (81b).
