Summary:The invention concerns a method for controlling the temperature of a flexible material. The flexible material made from silicone or another elastomer is made up of two layers with different shore hardnesses (H) and conductivities (lambda) and that are provided with a plurality of specific gas-filled cells. Each cell has two zones connected to each other: one for storing the gas when the material is compressed and that is positioned in the layer having higher hardness and thermal conductivity (layer C) and the other for expanding the same gas, when the material is decompressed, in the layer having lower hardness and thermal conductivity (layer D). The flexible material can thus be used as a sole in shoes in order to maintain a cool temperature when the person is running on hot ground, for example. At each step, the foot compresses the flexible material and the cell zones situated in layer C thus act as adiabatic chambers in which the gas heats up as it is compressed. The higher thermalconductivity of layer C a
