Summary:The invention relates to the technical field of coatings, and provides an unsaturated polyester primer and a preparation method thereof. The unsaturated polyester primer provided by the invention comprises a first component and a second component, wherein the first component comprises: 41-48 parts of air-dried unsaturated polyester resin; 5-8 parts of thermoplastic acrylic resin; 0.1-0.3 parts ofa defoaming agent; 0.5-1 parts of a dispersing agent; 0.2-0.4 parts of a leveling agent; 0.2-0.3 parts of an anti-settling agent; 8-10 parts of a pigment; 4-6 parts of zinc stearate; 25-30 parts of calcium carbonate; 0.1-0.3 parts of an anti-greening agent; 2.4-4.5 parts of a diluent. The thermoplastic acrylic resin is compounded with the air-dried unsaturated polyester resin, so that the saggingresistance and the cracking resistance of a paint film are improved; and meanwhile, under the combined action of the remaining components, the unsaturated polyester primer has good leveling property and excellent sagging resis
