The invention provides an electronic device. A character to which a sign unique to a language is added can be input through a keyboard having keys corresponding to basic characters of the language. The electronic device displays a character string of a character corresponding to a key input through a keyboard having the key on a display. The input rule is based on an input rule for inputting an unspecified character and a key for inputting a character to which a symbol specific to the language is added to the basic character.
