The invention relates to a device and a method for navigating between user interfaces and a graphical user interface. An electronic device having a display and a touch-sensitive surface displays a user interface of an application. The device detects a first portion of an input that includes a contact on a touch-sensitive surface and then detects a second portion of the input that includes a movement of the contact on the touch-sensitive surface. The device displays an application view during the movement, the application view including an application view corresponding to a user interface of the application and another application view corresponding to a different user interface of the different application. The device then detects a third portion of the input that includes lift-off of thecontact from the touch-sensitive surface. In response, the device displays an application switcher user interface when it is determined that an application switcher display criterion is satisfied, and displays a home screen
