Summary:The invention relates to a method for increasing the cold start capability and the load application capability and power capacity of airplanes while simultaneously oxygen-depleting the system exhaustgas, wherein supply air (7) is compressed in a compressor (3) of an inerting system (1) and is guided into a gas separator (4) of the inerting system (1), from which an oxygen-enriched gas (8) and a nitrogen-enriched gas (9) are discharged. Additionally, a cathode exhaust gas (10) is discharged from a fuel cell (2) and is liquefied by means of a condenser (5), wherein water is separated from the liquefied cathode exhaust gas (10) using a water separator (6).
