Summary: | The present invention relates to a process for making 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropylene and/or vinylidene fluoride. Disclosed is a process for the formation of a mixture of the compounds 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (1234yf) and vinylidine fluoride, comprising pyrolyzing 1,1,2-trifluoro-2-trifluoro-methyl-cyclobutaneunder conditions effective to produce a reaction product comprising 1234yf and vinylidinefluoride in a 1234yf: vinylidine fluoride molar ratio of from about 0.5 to about 1.2.
