The vehicle obstacle distance detection device comprises: an ultrasonic sensor module configured to transmit and receive an ultrasonic signal for obtaining time information representing propagation of the ultrasonic signal between a vehicle and an obstacle; a temperature sensor configured to acquire temperature information of a propagation environment of the ultrasonic signal; and a distance obtaining module is configured to obtain distance information between the vehicle and the obstacle according to the temperature information and the time information. 本发明涉及车辆障碍物距离检测装置和方法。车辆障碍物距离检测装置包括：超声波传感器模块，其配置成发射和接收超声波信号，以用于得到表示超声波信号在车辆与障碍物之间传播的时间信息；温度传感器，其配置成采集超声波信号的传播环境的温度信息；以及距离获取模块，其配置成根据温度信息和时间信息来得到车辆与障碍物之间的距离信息。
