A liquid developer containing a carrier liquid the SP value of which is 8.20 or smaller, toner particles insoluble in the carrier liquid and a toner particle dispersant, the liquid developer characterized in that the toner particles contain polyester resin having an acid value of 5-50 mg KOH/g inclusive, the number-average molecular weight of the polyester resin is 3,500-20,000 inclusive, and the toner particle dispersant is a polymer having a primary amino group, the amine value of the polymer having the primary amino group being 30-200 mg KOH/g inclusive, the ratio of the total number of acid groups of the polyester resin to the total number of amino groups of the polymer having the primary amino group being 1.0-10.0 inclusive. 提供体积电阻率高、其中调色剂颗粒的粒径小、并且调色剂颗粒的分散稳定性优异的液体显影剂。液体显影剂包含SP值为8.20以下的载液、不溶于载液的调色剂颗粒、和调色剂颗粒分散剂，液体显影剂的特征
