Summary:The present invention provides a paper type discrimination device and a control program for the paper type discrimination device, which can suppress an increase in time required for printing. An imageforming device (1) as the paper type discrimination device includes: a paper feed tray (11) that stores paper; a paper conveying section (10) that conveys paper from the paper feed tray (11); a grammage sensor (23) that measures the grammage of the paper being transported; a storage device that stores a type discrimination table that records the relationship between the grammage and the type of paper; and CPU (Central Prospecting Unit). A unique range and a selection range are defined in the type discrimination table. The unique range is the range of the grammage in which the paper type is uniquely discriminated.
