Summary:The invention provides a main shaft for a rotating tool which employs a structure capable of increasing the number of disc springs without elongating a draw bar. The rotating-tool main shaft (20) includes a hollow ram (21), a hollow main shaft (30) which is rotatably in the hollow ram (21) through bearings (22,23,24), a collet chuck mechanism (40) which is accommodated in the hollow main shaft (30), a draw bar (50) that operates the collet chuck mechanism (40), a hydraulic cylinder (60) that moves forwardly the draw bar (50), and a disc spring (61) that moves backwardly the draw bar (50). Thedisc spring (61) is placed within a distance (L2) that is at least a half of a distance (L2) from a tip of the draw bar (50) to the spring catch (51) in the axial direction. The disc spring (61) increases to the side of a front conical hole (31).
