The method comprises: (1) carrying out a reaction for acertain time in an organic solvent by using 1-bromoadamantane as a starting raw material, using a dimethylamine salt as an amination reagent and using triethylamine as a dimethylamine release agent toobtain N,N-dimethyladamantadine; and (2) preparing adamantyl trimethyl ammonium hydroxide from the N,N-dimethyladamantane amine, wherein the N,N-dimethyladamantadine reacts with chloromethane to obtain adamantyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, and then the adamantyl trimethyl ammonium chloride is electrolyzed to obtain the adamantyl trimethyl ammonium hydroxide.
