The embodiment of the invention provides a method and a system for measuring the protection range of a mining protection layer. The method comprises the following steps of acquiring the position of aprotection layer in a coal mine to-be-tested area, the position of a protected layer and the mining boundary of the protection layer; marking the protection range theoretical boundary line of the protection layer in a roadway, wherein the roadway is located in the protected layer, and the protected layer is located under the mining boundary position of the protection layer; marking a drilling cutting hole located in a roadway upper of the roadway by taking the protection range theoretical boundary line as the center and using a drilling cutting method, and acquiring the plastic zone range of aroadway upper coal body at the drilling cutting hole; and calculating the stress peak value of a protected layer coal body according to the plastic zone range of the roadway upper coal body at each drilling cutting hole, and
