The invention provides a method for automatically configuring a PCIe slot. The method comprises the steps that a BIOS detects whether a PCIe slot is electrically connected with a hardware device or not; when the PCIe slot is not electrically connected with the hardware device, the PCIe slot is electrically connected with the hardware device; and the BIOS configures the data bandwidth of the PCIe slot according to a preset value, or when the PCIe slot is electrically connected with the hardware device, the BIOS reads a set value of an online capability buffer of the hardware device, and the BIOS configures the data bandwidth of the PCIe slot according to the set value. 本发明提供一种自动配置PCIe插槽的方法，包括：BIOS侦测PCIe插槽是否电性连接硬件装置，其中当PCIe插槽未电性连接硬件装置时，BIOS依据预设值配置PCIe插槽的数据带宽，或当PCIe插槽已电性连接硬件装置时，BIOS读取硬件装置的联机能力缓存器的设定值，以及该BIOS依据设定值配置PCIe插槽的数据带宽。
