Summary:The invention relates to a device (10) for detecting a driving event of a vehicle (5), the device (10) comprising a triple-axis acceleration sensor (20) and a processing unit (30). The device (10) canbe arranged on the vehicle (5) in a fixed manner. Furthermore, the processing unit (30) is designed to record a plurality of acceleration values (22) by means of the acceleration sensor (20) over a determined period of time, to carry out a wavelet transformation of the acceleration values (22) in order to determine first coefficients, and to compare the first coefficients at least with stored, second coefficients. The second coefficients represent a pre-determined driving event. The processing unit (30) is also designed to identify the driving event represented by the second coefficients as an occurred driving event, when the first coefficients match the second coefficients.
