The invention provides a convex surface forming method and a convex surface forming apparatus. A cylindrical mold has: a first tooth-shaped mold part in which a tooth shape having the same tooth widthfrom the upper end part to the lower end part is formed on the inner circumference in accordance with the tooth width of a portion in which a desired convex surface is formed; and a second tooth-shaped mold part that is provided with a tooth shape with the same tooth width from the upper end part to the lower end part corresponding to the tooth width of a central part except the part where the desired convex surface is formed. The convex surface forming method comprises the following steps: forming a tooth shape on the outer periphery of a raw material through the tooth shape of the inner periphery of a first tooth-shaped mold part of the mold; and a tooth shape pressing step of moving the raw material having the tooth shape formed therein into the second tooth-shaped mold part, pressingthe inner peripheral surfa
