The invention discloses an extraction method of curcumin. The extraction method comprises the following steps: (1) drying rhizome of curcuma longa, and crushing into turmeric powder; 2) pouring the turmeric powder into an alcohol solution, then heating and extracting, grinding, filtering, evaporating and concentrating to obtain turmeric paste; 3) adding the turmeric paste into petroleum ether, heating and extracting, and filtering to obtain crude product of curcumin; 4) adding the crude product of curcumin into a mixed solvent, stirring and filtering to obtain a filter cake; 5) adding the filter cake into an alcohol solution, heating to a boiling point, dissolving into a saturated solution, and filtering while hot; 6) cooling the filtrate, standing to separate out crystals, and performingsuction filtration to obtain a crude product of crystals; and7) washing the crude product of crystals with a small amount of crystallization solvent, and drying to obtain curcumin.
