Summary:This ceramic substrate is provided with: a ceramic element having a ceramic layer on the surface; and a surface electrode that is provided on one main surface of the ceramic element. The ceramic substrate is characterized in that: an oxide layer formed of an insulating oxide is formed between the surface electrode and the ceramic layer, said oxide having a melting point that is higher than the firing temperature of the ceramic layer; the oxide layer is also provided on a ceramic layer portion where the surface electrode is not provided; and the surface of the oxide layer on the ceramic layer portion where the surface electrode is not provided is a rough surface. 本发明的陶瓷基板的特征在于,具备在表面具有陶瓷层的陶瓷坯体与在上述陶瓷坯体的个主面设置的表面电极,在上述表面电极与上述陶瓷层之间,设置有由具有比上述陶瓷层的煅烧温度高的熔点的绝缘性氧化物构成的氧化物层,并且,在未设置上述表面电极的上述陶瓷层上也设置有上述氧化物层,未设置上述表面电极的上述陶瓷层上的上述氧化物层的表面为粗糙面。
