The invention discloses a ceriated bentonite modified aqueous polyurethane coating and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the steps of loading a rare earth metal ion Ce3+ on the bentonite pretreated by chitosan to prepare ceriated bentonite; dispersing the ceriated bentonite as a modified filler into an anionic aliphatic aqueous polyurethane resin; and adding a certainamount of cross-linking agents and auxiliary agents to prepare the modified coating. The ceriated bentonite modified aqueous polyurethane coating comprises the components in mass percentage: 30-60% ofaqueous polyurethane resin, 20-50% of deionized water, 1-5% of ceriated bentonite, 1-5% of cross-linking agent and 0.2-2% of other auxiliary agents.
