The invention relates to a steer-by-wire system (2) for a motor vehicle (1), comprising at least two wheels (3, 4) that can be steered independently of each other in normal operation of the steer-by-wire system (2), at least two steering actuators (6, 7), each of which is associated with one of the steerable wheels (3, 4) and is designed to set a steering angle of the associated steerable wheel (3, 4), and at least one steering electronic unit (8) connected to the steering actuators (6, 7) with regard to signaling, which steering electronic unit is designed to individually control the steeringactuators (6, 7) on the basis of steering commands.
