Summary:A method for adaptive clutch learning of critical clutch characteristics includes decreasing pressure supplied to a clutch until clutch slip occurs to obtain a plurality of clutch slip adapt points, each clutch slip adapt point including a clutch slip pressure value and a corresponding clutch slip torque value. If a maximum of the plurality of clutch slip adapt points obtained determined to be greater than maximum adapt point limits then the maximum and a minimum of the plurality of clutch slip adapt points are removed.
