Summary: | The invention provides a transparent display device, comprising a display panel and a total-internal-reflection photonic crystal back plate. The display panel has a display side and a light incident side opposite to the display side. The total-internal-reflection photonic crystal back plate is located on the light incident side of the display panel, and comprises a substrate and a plurality of columnar structures periodically arranged inside the substrate, wherein the columnar structures are different from the refractive index of the substrate. The total-internal-reflection photonic crystal back plate can change the propagation direction of the incident light, can convert light incident on the display panel in different directions into vertically incident light, and uniformly distribute the incident light. Therefore, the transparent display device displays uniform brightness and has higher display quality.
