Summary: | The invention provides a symmetric long-range surface plasmon resonance sensor which comprises a broad-spectrum light source, a multimode optical fiber, an optical fiber sensing unit and a spectrometer, wherein the optical fiber sensing unit is respectively connected with the broad-spectrum light source and the spectrometer by the multimode optical fiber; the optical fiber sensing unit comprises aside-polished single-mode optical fiber which is sequentially plated with a dielectric film, a metal film and a medium film on a surface from the inside to the outside. The symmetric long-range surface plasmon resonance sensor provided by the invention has advantages of small volume and flexible production, and is based on long-range surface plasmon resonance, and higher in sensor sensitivity anddetection precision in comparison with an ordinary optical fiber surface plasmon resonance sensor having a structure of an optical fiber/metal film/subject to be tested.
