The invention belongs to the technical field of cigarette paper preparation, and particularly relates to a moisturizing type cigarette paper and a preparation method thereof. The cigarette paper comprises a cigarette paper base material and an MOF-Zr material which is uniformly dispersed in the base material, wherein the addition amount of the MOF-Zr material accounts for 5-10% of the mass of thecigarette paper. The MOF-Zr material with the moisture is added into the cigarette paper, so that the novel moisturizing type cigarette paper disclosed by the invention can be obtained. A cigarette smoking experiment prepared by using the cigarette paper shows that the moisture release amount in the flue gas is well adjusted, the drying feeling and the irritation of the smoke during smoking are reduced, and the good moisturizing effect is achieved.
