Summary:An air cylinder (50) is provided with a cylindrical cylinder (52) and a piston (51) that is moved by the pressure of a fluid fed to chambers (56, 57) disposed within the cylinder (52). A monitoring device (1) is provided with a heat flux sensor (10) and a detection unit (13). The heat flux sensor (10) is positioned at the cylinder (52) and detects the heat flux flowing in the cylinder (52) as a result of the compression or expansion of the fluid in the chambers (56, 57) corresponding to the operation of the piston (51).
