Summary: | An energy-absorbing component (1) for absorbing the energy of impacts striking thereagainst is proposed, wherein the component (1) is plastically deformable by means of an impact and can optionally bepartially destroyed. The energy-absorbing component (1) has at least one core structure (10) and at least one secondary structure (12). The at least one core structure (10) is manufactured from a first material, which is a metal or a polymer material reinforced with endless fibres, and the at least one secondary structure (12) is manufactured from a second material which is an unreinforced polymer material or is a polymer material reinforced with short fibres or long fibres. The at least one secondary structure (12) preferably has ribs (14, 15, 16, 18) and is connected to the at least one core structure (10) such that the at least one secondary structure (12) supports the at least one core structure (10) connected thereto.
