Embodiments of the invention disclose a call method based on a wireless local area network and a mobile terminal. The method comprises the following steps of detecting first signal strength of a firstnetwork in a call process based on the first network; when the signal strength of the first network is detected to be smaller than a preset strength value, acquiring second signal strength of a second network; and when the second signal strength is larger than or equal to the preset strength value, switching the network of the current call to the second network, wherein the first network is a trusted wireless local area network or an untrusted wireless local area network, and the second network is the trusted wireless local area network or the untrusted wireless local area network.
