The embodiment of the invention provides a system and a method for monitoring IT equipment. The corresponding operation event of the IT equipment is monitored by monitoring equipment based on a monitoring configuration parameter issued by a monitoring server, and the operation event is sent to the monitoring server. The monitoring server is used for sending the monitoring configuration parameter to the monitoring equipment based on a preset monitoring strategy, monitoring abnormal information of the IT equipment according to the operation event sent by the monitoring equipment and obtaining abnormality level and abnormality classification corresponding to the abnormal information when the abnormal information is monitored so as to generate a maintenance list based on the abnormality level,the abnormality classification and the abnormal information and then send the generated maintenance list to an operation and maintenance terminal.
