The invention relates to a pencil sharpener for suppressing core breakage inside a pencil sharpener, a method for sharpening the pencil and a pencil. The pencial sharpener comprsies the following components: a fisrt pencil sharpener unit (10) for only scraping a wood penholder (31) of the pencil (30), so that the tip is cylindrical; a second pencil sharpener unit (20) for scraping the tubular portion in order to expose the core (32). According to the structure, the pencil (30) can be sharpened by two stages: only cutting the hard wood penholder (31) at first, and then cutting the soft core (32). Even if excessive force is applied when cutting the hard wood penholder (31), since the core (32) is not exposed, the core (32) is unlikely to break.
