Provided is a method for producing a sheet core material 1 that is constructed with a foam molded substrate 2 and a frame member 3 embedded in the periphery thereof, the method comprising: step (a) for obtaining the foam molded substrate 2 by heating thermoplastic resin foam particles within a mold cavity in which the frame member 3 is disposed, so as to cause the foam particles to be fuse and bond to each other and cause the frame member 3 to be embedded in the periphery of the foam molded substrate; and step (b) for forming voids S, S' in the foam molded substrate 2 at adjacent positions along the frame member 3 either at the same time as step (a) or after step (a).
