The online monitoring and fault diagnosis system for an automobile engine isdesigned and erected. With fuzzy control and an expert system, the fault of an engine is analyzed systematically; a fault cause can be found out quickly and accurately; a problem processing efficiencyis improved; and the maintenance time is saved. On the basis of the modular structure design, the flexibility of the system is improved and interdependence between the layers is reduced.
