Summary:The invention provides powder for preventing tooth decay to provide a powder by which tooth decay can be more effectively prevented using a simple method. The powder for preventing tooth decay in themouth comprises saliva streptococci in a viable state and at least being free from any bactericidal component or abrasive component, wherein the saliva streptococci in a viable state are contained ina granular powder comprising a lactic acid bacterium. The powder for preventing tooth decay comprises a granular filler powder in addition to the lactic acid bacterium powder. The filler powder contains at least an oligosaccharide. The constitution as described above makes it possible to further activate the saliva streptococci. The ratio of the lactic acid bacterium powder to the filler powder ranges from 1/5 to 1/200. The filler powder contains dextrin. The filler powder contains erythritol. The filler powder contains an oligosaccharide, dextrin and erythritol. The content of the oligosaccharide ranges from 10 to 40%
