Summary:An image forming apparatus includes a display unit, an operation receiving unit, a printing unit, an external terminal, a display control unit, a readout control unit, an interpretation program unit,and a control unit. The read-out control unit reads metadata about the print job from the USB memory, and the USB memory is connected to the external terminal. The display control unit uses an analysis result of the metadata performed by the interpretation program unit to carry out specified display of the range of the printing object in the document data generated as a printing task in the display unit. The readout control unit reads the data portion of the designated print object range from the USB memory using the analysis result.
