This friction stir spot welding device is equipped with: a seal (11) capable of contacting or separating from a second plate surface located on the opposite side thereof from a first plate, given thatthe plates comprise a stacked first plate (W1) and second plate (W2); a drive unit for rotating and driving the seal around the axis thereof; a position adjustment unit for adjusting the relative positions of the seal and the second plate; a control unit for controlling the drive unit and the position adjustment unit; and a breakage detection unit for detecting breakage of the seal by controllingthe control unit in a manner such that at a first welding position, the seal is positioned at a position of contact with the second plate or at a prescribed insertion position. 摩擦搅拌点接合装置具备：能接触或离开在重叠的第板材（W1）和第二板材（W2）中第二板材的与所述第板材相反侧的面的工具（11）；使工具在绕其轴的方向上旋转驱动的驱动部；调整工具与第二板材之间的相对位置的位置调整部；控制驱动部及位置调整部的控制部；以及在个接合位置上以工具配置于与第二板材接触的位置或规定的推入位置的形式对控制部进行控制从而检测工具的破损的破损检测部。
