An efficient horizontal gas-liquid separator for a refrigerating system comprises a horizontal barrel, a front cover, a rear cover, a gas outlet pipe and three liquid observing devices, wherein the horizontal barrel is a circular iron barrel which is placed horizontally; an outlet of an inlet pipe faces the direction of the rear cover of the horizontal barrel; the front cover is formed by weldingan arc-shaped spherical panel to a cylindrical shell; the rear cover is also formed by welding an arc-shaped spherical panel to a cylindrical shell; the gas outlet pipe is a pipe of which the two endsare straight pipes and the middle is bent in a smooth transition manner; each liquid observing device comprises an inner threaded sleeve and an observing window; and each observing window comprises alens frame and a lens.
