The invention discloses a wind turbine generator set communication system. The system comprises a digital signal processor (DSP), a CAN communication drive chip, an Ethernet communication chip, an Ethernet communication drive chip, a PROFIBUS communication chip and a PROFIBUS communication drive chip; and a communication protocol conversion program is configured in the digital signal processor (DSP) and used for achieving mutual conversion of a CAN communication protocol, a PROFIBUS communication protocol and an Ethernet communication protocol. The invention further discloses a communication method of the wind turbine generator set communication system. The communication method comprises the steps that the various communication chips judge whether data need to be sent or not separately; ifnot, the communication chips judge whether data need to be received or not, the communication chips receive the data and then package the data to send the packaged data to the digital signal processor (DSP), and the digital
