The present invention provides a method for producing polyphenylene ether powder that can solve various problems in a solid-liquid separation process for preparing wet PPE particles and stably producePPE powder having excellent quality. The method for producing polyphenylene ether powder according to the present invention includes the steps of: a polymerization step of oxidizing and polymerizinga phenol-based compound in a polymerization solution containing a good solvent of polyphenylene ether (PPE) and a catalyst to obtain a PPE mixed solution; a precipitation step of adding the PPE mixedsolution, a poor solvent of PPE, and water to a precipitation tank equipped with a stirrer to mix and precipitate PPE so as to obtain a slurry liquid containing PPE granules; and a solid-liquid separation step of separating the slurry liquid into wet PPE granules and a filtrate, wherein the total content of the good solvent, the poor solvent and the water in the wet PPE particles is 44% by mass to72% by mass with respect to
