The invention discloses a method and device for switching to a confidential phone conversation. The method comprises the following steps: receiving a triggering command for switching from an ordinary phone conversation to the confidential phone conversation; sending a confidential phone conversation request to an opposite terminal, so that the confidential phone conversation can be established, wherein the confidential phone conversation request carries audio prompt information; and when information confirming establishment of the confidential phone conversation, which is returned from the opposite terminal, is received, switching to a confidential phone conversation mode. The method and device adopting the technical scheme have the advantage that a user can manually switch to the confidential phone conversation in a more confidential manner. 本发明公开了种切换保密通话的方法及装置。该方法包括：接收到从普通通话切换到保密通话的触发指令；向对端终端发送保密通话请求，用于建立保密通话，所述保密通话请求附带音频提示信息；在接收到所述对端终端返回的确认建立保密通话的信息时，切换到保密通话模式。本发明实施例提供的技术方案，提高了手动切换保密通话的保密性。
