The invention discloses a sensor for an injection mold and an on-line detection method of the sensor. The injection mold comprises a fixed mold plate (100), a movable mold plate (200) and a cavity (300). The sensor comprises a sensor body (1) and a connection wire (2), wherein the surface, except the portion making contact with the cavity (300), of the sensor body (1) is externally provided with an insulating layer, and the sensor body (1) and a fixed mold core (110) form two poles of a detection capacitor; one end of the connection wire (2) is connected with the sensor body (1), the other end of the connection wire (2) is connected a power source and used for charging the detection capacitor, or the other end of the connection wire (2) is connected a computer and used for transmitting voltage signals of the detection capacitor in the whole injection molding cycle to the computer.
