The invention provides an excellent glass plate to whose surface alkali metal is not easy to diffuse and which can inhibit degeneration of characteristics of a transparent conductive oxide film. The glass plate is characterized in that an average value of hydrogen concentrations in an area of the glass plate from a surface to as deep as 0.5 to 1.5 [mu]m is used as a surface layer hydrogen concentration, a hydrogen concentration in an area of the glass plate form the surface to as deep as 0.5 to 1.5 [mu]m except the area of the abovementioned glass plate from the surface to as deep as 100 [mu]m as an internal hydrogen concentration, and a value represented by (the surface hydrogen concentration/internal hydrogen concentration) is below 0.80. Under the circumstance that the thickness of the glass plate is below 0.2 mm, a hydrogen concentration in the area of the glass plate from the surface to as deep as 0.5 to 1.5 [mu]m except the area of a depth of half the thickness of the glass plate is used as an internal
