Summary:Provided are an imaging device and an imaging method, which can capture an object to be shot within a desired range of a user. The imaging device (100) includes: an imaging part (102), which shoots an imaging range to obtain an image; an object detection part (1144), which detects in the image an object that serves as an object to be shot; an image range determination part (1146), which determines whether the object is at the periphery of the imaging range; a moving direction determination part (1145), which determines the moving direction of the object; and a shooting auxiliary part (1147), which carries out auxiliary processing for the user on the basis of a determination result showing whether the object is the periphery of the imaging range and as well as the moving direction of the object. 提供能够在用户期望的范围内捕捉被摄体的摄像装置和摄像方法。摄像装置(100)具有:摄像部(102),其对摄像范围进行摄像而取得图像;对象物检测部(1144),其从图像中检测作为摄像对象的对象物;图像范围判定部(1146),其判定对象物的位置是否是摄像范围的周边部;移动方向判定部(1145),其判定对象物的移动方向;以及拍摄辅助部(1147),其根据对象物的位置是否是摄像范围的周边部的判定结果和对象物的移动方向,进行对用户的辅助处理。
