An adhesive article comprising a poly(meth)acrylate-based primer layer and methods of making same. The article can include a backing, a primer layer located on a first major surface of the backing, and a silicone-based adhesive located on the primer layer. The primer layer can be derived from a primer precursor comprising poly(meth)acrylate functionalities.
