The invention relates to a preparation method and application of a bacteriostatic compound coating. The preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) dissolving chitosan in an acetic acid solution of which the mass percentage content is 10 to 30 percent, and stirring to form a solution (A); (2) adding ammonium hydroxide into the solution (A), stirring, standing, precipitating, separating, washing and drying to obtain a product I; (3) adding the product I into an alkali liquor to undergo alkalization treatment, adding an alcoholic solution and chloroactic acid in sequence, and heating for reacting in a constant-temperature water bath to obtain a solution (B); (4) adjusting a pH value of the solution (B) with diluted acid to neutral, standing, precipitating, separating, washing and drying to obtain a product II; (5) dissolving the product II in the acetic acid solution, stirring till the product II is completely dissolved, adding a silver nitrate solution and a vanillic aldehyde solution dropwise in seq
