The invention relates to a recording apparatus and a covering method for reducing ink-caused stains. The recording apparatus is provided with: an ejection part (6) ejects ink from a nozzle towards a medium; a cap (7), which covers the nozzle; a supply path (15), which supplies a filling liquid to the interior of the cap; a control part, which controls the covering of the nozzle and filling of hte filling liquid. When the ejection from the ejection part to the medium is finished, the control part performs a filling liquid coverage step for covering the nozzle under the status that the cap (7) is filled fully with the filling liquid, so that the filling liquid is contacted with the nozzle.
