A printing apparatus and a head cartridge are provided. A printing unit includes a first opening formed at a first surface that is parallel to a main scanning direction and is facing a space defined between an ejection port surface having ejection ports formed thereat and a print medium; and a second opening formed at a second surface that is parallel to the main scanning direction and different from the first surface. The first opening and the second opening communicate with each other via a first communication path.
