Summary: | The present invention discloses a method for preparing a catalyst system for hydrogen cyanide butadiene or one or more monoolefins mono nitriles. The method comprises the following steps: reacting metal nickel, at least one bidentate organophosphorus ligand and at least one formula P (XaRa) (XbRb) (XcRc) compounds in the presence of a liquid diluents in a single step; wherein Xa, Xb and Xc are each independently oxygen or a single bond; Ra, Rb and Rc are each independently an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms.
