The invention relates to a metal hydride replacing method and a replacing station. The replacing station comprises a large metal hydride storage tank, a feeding platform, a metal hydride replacing device, a vacuum tank, a compressor, a feeding device and a protection air tank. The replacing steps are that (1) a locking flange and a filling opening flange of a filling gun are in butt joint and are locked; (2) a delivery pipe driver is started, and the filling gun is inserted into the metal hydride storage tank; (3) an air flow conveying manner is adopted for pumping out spent metal hydride from the metal hydride storage tank; (4) separated-out shielding gas enters the vacuum tank through a shielding gas pipe, and the spent metal hydride returns to a recovering bay after releasing heat; (5) the shielding gas pipe is switched, and a switching valve is switched to a feeding pipe; (6) fresh and saturated metal hydride is added into the metal hydride storage tank; and (7) electronic metering equipment is used for m
