The synthesis method comprises the following steps: adding 2-ethylhexoic acid and a sodium hydroxide solution into a reaction kettle; stirring at 30 DEG C to 50 DEG C for 1h; after stirring, adding rhodium trichloride and refluxing for 24h; after reacting, cooling to room temperature; adjusting the potential of hydrogen (pH) of a reaction system; standing after the pH is stable; pumping; drying in vacuum at 100 DEG C to obtain the rhodium tris(2-ethylhexanoate).
