The invention discloses a load capacity determination method of a clothes dryer. The determination method comprises the following steps: after a drying procedure of the clothes dryer is detected to start, controlling a dryer to heat for first preset time in first power; controlling the dryer to heat for second preset time in second power, wherein the second power is lower than the first power and the second preset time is shorter than the first preset time; detecting temperature of a load in the clothes dryer, and calculating temperature gradient of the load at intervals of third preset time when the clothes dryer heats in the second power, to obtain a temperature gradient sequence of the load in the second preset time and a total temperature variation value; and according to the temperature gradient sequence and the total temperature variation value, determining load capacity grade of the load.
